Results of these tests are usually given in handloading manuals without any quantitative data, just listed in sequence in a table. That doesn’t give us any idea of the velocities expected while the “effective burning time†is directly proportional to velocity.

IMR-7828 is a great powder also but your gun might not like it. It is more consistant from lot to lot though.
One problem that it absolutely has is LOT-SENSITIVITY it varies more from lot to lot than any other powder I have ever used. just find a lot that works well and buy 5# to 10# IMHO Hodgdon's EXTREME powders that claim temp insensitivity is a little more hype and marketing propaganda than contemporáneo reality.
Velocity across multiple lots of each type, in the same few rifles, has been notably higher (50-100fps) with the ssc version. I believe the kernel size leads to a slightly faster burn rate, but in light of the progressive nature of this powder's burn cycle, I don't think it matters in a pressure sense.

Nine different powders, including the new Alliant Reloader 25, were included in this test. We also tested with all of the different 160-grain hunting bullets we could find, thirteen in all, including the new Nosler Partition Gold.
Also, I agree with UncleB's comment that Lot to Lot variation is also a major issue with many powders, including the so called Extreme Powders, many of which are manufactured by ADI here in Oz. Also, I remain to be convinced as to how insensitive the so called "Extreme Powders" really are.
